Welcome To The New Camp Coordinator!
Mary Ann Hanson is appointed new acting Camp Coordinator! We are so fortunate that Mary Ann Hanson was recently assigned to be acting coordinator of the A.N.C.H.O.R Program.
Mary Ann has worked at Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. for 27 years, during which she earned a Masters from Fordham University in 2007. Her degree and knowledge in Social Work has been beneficial to the many aspects of Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. In addition to her long working hours, Mary Ann continues to be so generous with her time volunteering in all our fundraising efforts. We could not have asked for a more experienced and invested leader during this time of transition. We look forward to a successful 2017 and beyond!
Anchor Program Fund. Why do we raise funds? Where is the money spent?
While the Town of Hempstead runs the Camp A.N.C.H.O.R program and generously provides the facilities, staffing, transportation and certain supplies, the Anchor Program Fund, Inc. provides the funding for most of the activities including field trips, special programs, additional supplies and equipment to maintain the A.N.C.H.O.R program experience for its participants. The funding for the Anchor Program Fund, Inc. is provided largely through donations from people like you. We could not do what we do for A.N.C.H.O.R. participants without you!
So what do we sponsor?
ALL Summer Trips and ALL Summer Special Friday Events
ALL Fall/Winter/Spring trips for Regular Programs
ALL Club A.N.C.H.O.R Dances
Supplemental funds to the Adult Program Trips
Volunteer Night and Volunteer Gifts
All Family Events (Bingo, Halloween, Movie Day, Holiday Open House, Zumba)
Introducing AKTION Club
The A.N.C.H.O.R Program, along with Peninsula Kiwanis announced the creation of the Aktion Club is a community service group for adults with special needs. Activities include fundraising, planting trees, recycling, landscaping and other activities for members to help enhance the community. This new club of future leaders will be organizing events for the entire A.N.C.H.O.R population. You will receive notification of these events through emails.
